44th and First (not a street address in NYC).
By now, almost everyone in the world knows that Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States and the First African American president. The inauguration ceremony was all over news. In my opinion, one of the best parts of the inauguration actually took place Sunday before the “We Are One” concert at the Lincoln Memorial. It was the prayer by Bishop Gene Robinson. I found it very inspirational and on key to the times we are living. I couldn't find it in Spanish, so I did my best job at translating it since I want to share it with everyone in the blogger family.

Bless us with tears — tears for a world in which over a billion people exist on less than a dollar a day, where young women in many lands are beaten and raped for wanting an education, and thousands die daily from malnutrition, malaria, and AIDS.

Bless us with discomfort — at the easy, simplistic answers we've preferred to hear from our politicians, instead of the truth, about ourselves and our world, which we need to face if we are going to rise to the challenges of the future.
